Contrariamente a quanto da noi annunciato nel precedente aggiornamento, il concerto dell'Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Group allo Spazio211 a Torino previsto lil 9 marzo 2009 NON si terrà. Lo schedule del tour è stato modificato a accorciato, queste le date:

Megaritual is the last album of those Omar recorded in Amsterdam and has been realized with the help of Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez, Despair has been written, permorfed and produced by Omar just before studio sessions for The Mars Volta The Bedlam In Goliath, album and tracks names are the same of some movies of German film director R.W.Fassbinder.

Nonostante altri due dischi in arrivo, Megaritual e Despair (in uscita il 26 gennaio), e la versione cd e lp di Old Money in uscita il giorno dopo (anche se il cd è disponibile già ora ma solo sul sito della Stones Throw), ecco l'annuncio dell'ennesimo disco di Omar Rodriguez-Lopez: un progetto importante, di cui si parla da un pò (dai tempi della nostra prima intervista a lui) e che vedrà il deus ex machina marsvoltiano impegnato in una "nuova band" con i "fidi" Cedric Bixler Zavala e Juan Alderete a cui si aggiungono Zach Hill e Jonathan Hitschke, rispettivamente batterista degli Hella e bassista/chitarrista dalle molteplici collaborazioni (fra cui gli Hella stessi, band che alcuni di noi han potuto ammirare dal vivo all'ATP 2005). Il disco sarà il primo licenziato interamente dalla neonata Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Productions ma non dovrebbe esser pubblicato prima di marzo.

La ragione per pensare a quel mese come periodo per la release, oltre a una mail dalla OR-LP stessa, è la seguente (ed è fanstastica):

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez sarà in concerto a Torino il 9 marzo 2009, allo Spazio 211! Siamo in attesa di conferme e dettagli ma non ci stupirebbero troppo visto che lo stesso Omar, in una recente intervista, aveva parlato della possibilità di un tour "solo". Verosimilmente, sarà accompagnato da alcuni membri dei Mars Volta (come già accaduto nelle poche esibizioni finora dell'Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Quintet/Group), forse potrebbe addirittura trattarsi dello stesso combo dell'album di cui sopra. Vi terremo informati. Il costo del biglietto dovrebbe esser 10 euro.

A new album by Omar Rodriguez has been announced: even if two other albums, Megaritual and Despair, will be released on January 26th and Old Money cd and lp will be available on January 27th (cd is available now just on Stones Throw site), Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Productions announced (and will release) a new album by The Mars Volta deus ex machina along with a "new group" featuring Cedric Bixler Zavala, Juan Alderete, Zach Hill (drummer for Hella) and Jonathan Hitschke (bassist and guitarist for many artists and member of Hella touring band). There's still no release date but we guess it won't be out til March...

Because next March, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez should hit Europe with a "solo" tour (as he announced recently on some interviews, probably some of The Mars Volta members will join him as it happened during past Omar Rodriguez Group gig, maybe would this be a tour for the newest project above?), see you at Spazio 211 in Turin for the only Italian gig! Ne avevamo parlato tempo fa, finalmente abbiamo notizie concrete riguardo all'album dei Vato Negro, interessantissimo progetto di Juan Alderete (assieme a Mathias Sherrod, batterista dei Crowded House): il disco si chiama Bumpers e sembra sia già disponibile da qualche giorno in Giappone (link), verrà pubblicato in vinile in USA a gennaio. La label è la N20 Records che aveva già pubblicato Calibration di Omar Rodriguez-Lopez. Qui sotto copertina e tracklist, vi consigliamo di non perdervelo! Finally Vato Negro album Bumpers is ready and seems already available on Japanese e-store (link). Vato Negro is Juan Alderete with Crowded House drummer Mathias Sherrod. A sorpresa, arriva l'ennesimo album di Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (il suo ottavo cui aggiungere due ep e un singolo, il quarto quest'anno, il terzo nell'ultimo mese) : Old Money è stato annunciato e pubblicato nel giro di poche ore sul sito della label Stones Throw. Si tratta, per ora, di una pubblicazione in formato digitale mentre cd e lp verranno pubblicati solo il 27 gennaio 2009, il link diretto per il download è questo al costo di $9,99. Nella presentazione dell'album, se ne parla come di un potenziale successore di Amputechture dei Mars Volta, poi messo da parte. Intanto, si vocifera già di ulteriori due uscite a nome Omar Rodriguez, Megaritual e Despair che potrebbero uscire su Willie Anderson Recordings il primo dicembre.

Esce oggi nei cinema italiani The Burning Plain, primo film diretto da Guillermo Arriaga, protagoniste Charlize Theron e Kim Basinger. Segnaliamo questo film (premierato all'ultima Mostra Del Cinema di Venezia) perché la colonna sonora è a cura di Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (insieme al compositore tedesco Hans Zimmer).

L'anno scorso i Mars Volta avevano eseguito le musiche per il film El Bufalo De La Noche (uscito in Messico e USA), tratto dal romanzo omonimo di Arriaga (che aveva curato anche la sceneggiatura del film). Una collaborazione che si ripete, dunque. Buona visione!

Poche news: fra due giorni la band sarà al Voodoo Festival in New Orleans, poi date in Cile, Argentina, Colombia e Messico. Molto probabilmente saranno gli ultimi show della band per quest'anno.

Una novità molto importante: è partita, finalmente, come label vera e propria, la Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Productions. Per ora c'è solo una pagina myspace con poche informazioni ma le premesse sono interessanti: si prevedono, oltre ovviamente a nuove pubblicazioni (dischi, film), ristampe di ep e vinili dei Mars Volta, nonché i dischi dei De Facto, alcuni ormai difficilmente reperibili. Aspettiamo fiduciosi nuovi sviluppi al riguardo.

Infine, il nostro amico Josh  Hunter ci fa sapere che sul sito www.27s.com è possibile preordinare il libro The 27s. Per ulteriori info e del perché parliamo di questo libro su questo sito, scorrete questa stessa pagina.

Il quinto lp dei Mars Volta è pronto, parola di Omar Rodriguez-Lopez. Il disco verrà mixato alla fine del tour a New York con Rich Costey, si vocifera marzo 2009 come data di pubblicazione. Intanto, la band è in tour negli USA e, successivamente, terrà, qualche data in Sud America come annunciato qualche tempo fa. Nelle recenti date è stata riproposto spesso il brano Eunuch Provocateur tratto da Tremulant, ep d'esordio della band nel 2002. Potete vedere il video del brano dal vivo a New York qui.

Seems new The Mars Volta album is already done: Omar will mix it in New York with Rich Costey at the end of this tour: the band is currently playing in US and then will play some show in South America. During recent gigs, they played Eunuch Provocateur...you can see a video here.

Salve a tutti, aggiornamento "veloce": in primis tanti auguri di buon compleanno proprio a Omar Rodriguez-Lopez!

La band sta per iniziare il tour negli USA e, nel frattempo, sembrano concretizzarsi le voci di un tour in Sud America tra ottobre e novembre. Confermata la presenza alla Zero Festival a Monterey (Messico), la band dovrebbe tenere date di supporto ai R.E.M. in Cile, Brasile e Colombia.

Intanto, ritardata la pubblicazione di Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fungus, album di "archivio" di Omar che verrà pubblicato il 7 ottobre mentre già si parla di un ennesimo suo disco di annata, Minor Cuts And Scrapes In The Bush Ahead, su cui però non si hanno altri dettagli.

Today is Omar Rodriguez-Lopez birthday: ¡Feliz cumpleaños Omàr!

The band is going to start US tour and will also perform at Zero Festival in Monterey (Mexico) in October. There should be also South American tour in October/November, opening for R.E.M. in Chile, Brazil and Colombia, no confirmations yet though.

Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fungus, upcoming album by Omar, has been postponed to October 7th. Another his solo album should be out soon too, the title should be Minor Cuts And Scrapes In The Bush Ahead, both albums have been recorded during 2001/2002.

La band ha concluso il tour europeo: seppur provati da mesi di tour, i Mars Volta han regalato due buone performance al pubblico italiano. La setlist, uguale per Torino e Roma:

In realtà, per entrambi gli shows erano in scaletta anche Meccamputechture e Drunkship Of Lanterns, poi non eseguite. Una piccola delusione, unita alla durata (due ore circa) inferiore alle aspettative (o forse dovremo dire alle promesse, quantomeno leggendo i comunicati stampa che annunciavano i concerti) ma in linea con la media del tour. Tra i momenti migliori degli show le jam, diverse in entrambe le serate e che hanno occupato buona parte del tempo: più "dure" a Torino, più "soft" a Roma, in linea con i luoghi. E' il giorno: stasera primo dei due concerti italiani dei Mars Volta! L'appuntamento è allo Spaziale Festival a Torino! E domani secondo show al Teatro Romano di Ostia Antica, Roma! Ah, allo Spaziale potrete forse trovare il poster realizzato dai Malleus (immagine in basso), dedicato a tutto lo Spaziale Festival e limitato a 200 copie, in vendita già da qualche giorno).

Intanto, ennesimo album solista di Omar Rodriguez in arrivo il 9 settembre: Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fungus è il secondo disco "d'annata", dopo il recente Omar Rodriguez-Lopez & Jeremy Micheal Ward, anche questo risalente al 2001. Il comunicato stampa della Infrasonic Sound lo descrive come vicino alle sonorità di A Manual Dexterity Soundtrack vol.1, primo album solista di Omar pubblicato nel 2004 ma realizzato nello stesso periodo di quest'ultimo.

La band ha iniziato il tour europeo il 12 luglio a Liegi, in Belgio, nell'ambito del Des Ardentes Festival. Più in basso trovate la setlist di questo concerto e di quello tenuto il giorno successivo a Rotterdam, Olanda, al North Sea Jazz Festival. Trattandosi di concerti all'interno di festival, dunque, bisognerà aspetterà i prossimi concerti, vale a dire i primi solo shows di questo tour europeo, domani e il 17 alla Roundhouse di Londra. Alcuni di noi ci saranno, vi terremo informati. E non dimenticatevi che i Mars Volta saranno in Italia per due concerti il 28 luglio allo Spaziale Festival a Torino e il 29 al Teatro Romano Di Ostia Antica, informazioni su questi due show qui e nel nostro FORUM, avete ancora la possibilità di partecipare al nostro contest per cercare di assicurarvi un biglietto per i concerti!

Dopo i tour in Giappone e Oceania, la band tornerà in Europa dal 12 luglio e, come detto, sarà in Italia per due concerti a fine mese! Per le date italiane, trovate le info qui e nel nostro FORUM!

A settembre e ottobre la band terrà un altro tour negli USA.

Nel frattempo, è stata pubblicata (e già andata esaurita, visto il basso numero di copie stampate) l'edizione in vinile di The Bedlam In Goliath. In attesa di una ristampa, attesa a giorni, potete vedere un'immagine qui . Nella confezione vi è incluso un vinile 7" a forma di planchette per Oujia Board (riprodotta all'interno della confezione) contente l'inedito strumentale Mr.Muggs.

In alcune recenti interviste, Omar Rodriguez ha dichiarato che il quinto disco della band è già cosa fatta come anche buona parte di quello che sarà il sesto album.

Sul fronte dei progetti paralleli:

- verrà pubblicato in Europa il 14 luglio dalla Willie Anderson Recordings / Konkurrent in formato cd e vinile (è anche già disponibile su www.infrasonicsound.com) il disco Omar Rodriguez-Lopez & Jeremy Michael Ward: è un album risalente al 2001 e, come da titolo, è frutto del lavoro di Omar con il compianto Jeremy. Un disco strano, particolare, utile anche a capire da dove è nata una parte del suono dei Mars Volta (qui potete vedere la copertina);

- i Look Daggers di Ikey Owens pubblicheranno il 30 settembre la versione cd del loro primo album Suffer In Style (già disponibile su Itunes), insieme a un dvd, intitolato Alive For Now In Long Beach, che conterrà un concerto della band;

- sulla pagina myspace di Adrian Terrazas potrete ascoltare un nuovo brano che sarà contenuto in un suo disco di prossima uscita;

- anche se non è più un membro della band, il progetto in questione ci sembra molto interessante e rimaniamo suoi estimatori: Jon Theodore ha realizzato un ep assieme a Zack De La Rocha, storico leader dei Rage Against The Machine. The band will tour again Europe by July 12th, then there will be US tour in September/October.

The Bedlam In Goliath double vinyl release is already soldout, probably there will be another pressing soon: the vinyl format features additional 7" with unreleased, instrumental track Mr.Muggs, here is a pic.

On some recent interviews, Omar Rodriguez said 5th The Mars Volta album is almost done, also some parts of 6th album are ready.

Nessun aggiornamento particolare (ce ne sarà un altro in settimana visto che le novità non mancano) ma ci tenevamo a ricordare Jeremy Michael Ward, a cinque anni dalla sua scomparsa. Lo facciamo con un'illustrazione (che potete vedere in homepage) opera del nostro amico Josh Hunter. La troverete nel libro The 27s in uscita a breve in cui si parlerà anche di Jeremy.

No particular updates right now (even if there will be one in a few days, lots of news to add) but we just wanted to remember Jeremy Michael Ward who passed away five years ago. Thanks to our friend Josh Hunter for the image you can see in the homepage. It will be featured (with Jeremy story) in the upcoming book The 27s.

The Mars Volta torneranno in Italia a luglio, per due date! Le voci che si rincorrevano da tempo hanno trovato conferma! La band sarà in tour in Europa a luglio e agosto (a breve lo schedule completo) e si esibirà a Torino, nell'ambito dello Spaziale Festival il 28 luglio e a Roma, al Teatro Romano di Ostia Antica il 29 luglio!

La band ha concluso il tour europeo, più membri della band ci hanno confermato un ritorno da queste parti in estate. Intanto, aggiunte nuove date in USA, Messico e Giappone, date un'occhiata qui.

Il 25 marzo arriva Suffer In Style, primo lp dei Look Daggers di Ikey Owens, il 22 aprile è la vota del primo lp delgi Zechs Marquise, band in cui milita Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez (e suo fratello Manfred), dateci un ascolto.

Domani sera, dopo 3 anni i Mars Volta torneranno a suonare in Italia. L'appuntamento, lo sapete, è all'Alcatraz di Milano. Non vogliamo riverlarvi dettagli sulla setlist, se volete saperne di più date un'occhiata al nostro FORUM, ci sono informazioni sui concerti tenuti dalla band dall'inizio di questo tour europeo. Se ne parliamo qui è perché in questo libro, accanto ai più noti Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, si parlerà anche di Jeremy Michael Ward, membro fondatore dei Mars Volta venuto a mancare nel 2003. Il libro, di ben 224 pagine, contiene splendide illustrazioni a cura di Josh Hunter! About Omar newest albums: Calibration is out in Europe on cd, vinyl still has to come. The Apocalypse Inside Of An Orange will be released in Europe on cd and vinyl on March 17th by Willie Anderson Recordings / Konkurrent.

On spring 2008, it will released The 27s, book by Eric Segalstad and Josh Hunter: interviews, revelations and much more to describe one of the most well known rock legend: the club of 27s, all the famous rockstars who died at age of 27. We're talking about it here because you will be able to read on this book about Jeremy Michael Ward, The Mars Volta memeber who died on 2003. This 224 pages book will feature amazing illustrations by Josh Hunter, you can see a preview on the official site, www.the27s.com, and sign up to official newsletter. The Bedlam In Goliath, quarto album studio dei Mars Volta, è nei negozi italiani a partire da oggi!

Il disco è già stato pubblicato in Giappone lo scorso 23 gennaio, con un dvd aggiuntivo contenente il video live del brano Cygnus...Vismund Cygnuss e tre tracce audio, cover di Soft Machine, Nick Drake e Sugarcubes.

Negli USA il disco uscirà il 29 gennaio, alcuni negozi americani (online), daranno in omaggio agli acquirenti un dvd con 20 minuti di video (presumibilmente lo stesso dell'edizione nipponica) + un codice da dove scaricare brani inediti (dovrebbero essere le stesse cover di cui sopra) oppure uno speciale disco vinile da un lato e dvd dall'altro (avete letto bene) contenente la cover di Candy And A Currant Bun dei Pink Floyd e il video di Wax Simulacra.

Candy And A Currant Bun sarà anche la bonus track delle versioni britannica e australiana del disco.

Inoltre il disco verrà pubblicato in formato chiavetta USB da 1 Gigabyte che conterrà anche artwork e il video di Wax Simulacra e con cui sarà possibile avere materiale inedito ogni mese.

Nessuna notizia ancora riguardo alla versione vinile.

Vi ricordiamo che è disponibile anche il singolo di Wax Simulacra, pubblicato in Gran Bretagna in formato cd e vinile 7 pollici, assieme al brano la cover di Pulled To Bits di Siouxsie And The Banshees.

La band, intanto, continua il tour negli USA (aggiunta una data a San Diego + uno special show per soli 200 fortunati). Il tour europeo, come sapete, partirà il 17 febbraio da Amburgo e toccherà l'Italia, per un'unica data, il 27 febbraio all'Alcatraz di Milano.

Today The Bedlam In Goliath is out in Italy, go and buy it!

The album has already been released in Japan on January 23th with additional dvd featuring 20 minutes of live footage (the track Cygnuss...Vismund Cygnuss) + 3 audio tracks, cover by Soft Machine, Nick Drake and Sugarcubes.

It will be released in USA on January, 29th. Some US stores (online or not) are giving for free dvds with footage + new track or a special vinyl/dvd featuring Pink Floyd Candy And A Currant Bun cover + Wax Simulacra video to people who will buy the new album.

Candy And A Currant Bun should be also bonus tracks on UK, Australia & NZ version of the album.

The album will be also released on USB flash drive (capacity: 1 Gigabyte) which will feature also artwork and Wax Simulacra video + more exclusive extras every month.

Wax Simulacra single has been released in UK on January 14th on cd and 7" vinyl featuring Siouxsie And The Banshees cover Pulled To Bits.

The band is touring US (new show in San Diego added + a special show for just 200 persons). European tour will start on February 17th from Hamburg.

Questa è la setlist del concerto tenuto dai Mars Volta all'Echoplex di Los Angeles di due sere fa, il primo dopo 8 mesi. 8 pezzi tratti da The Bedlam In Goliath in scaletta. Stasera la band chiuderà il 2007 con un concerto a San Francisco (in compagnia di Eternals, DJ Nobody, DJ Dennis Owens, DJ Elvis Wesley, Peanut Butter Wolf, The Wizard Is Oz) in cui terranno anche un set acustico. A partire dal 9 gennaio e fino alla fine del mese, la band sarà in tour in Nord America (USA e Canada), il 17 febbraio inizierà finalmente il tour europeo con data unica in Italia il 27 febbraio all'Alcatraz di Milano (info qui), cliccate qui per vedere tutte le date.

You can read above the setlist of The Mars Volta gig at The Echoplex in L.A. two days ago, the first gig after 8 months. As you can read, they played 8 songs from The Bedlam In Goliath. Tonight the band will play a special show for nye in San Francisco (with The Eternals, DJ Nobody, DJ Dennis Owens, DJ Elvis Wesley, Peanut Butter Wolf, The Wizard Is Oz) perfoming acoustic set as well. Starting from January 8th the band will tour US and Canada till the end of the month. European tour will start on February 17th, click here to see all tour dates.

New album The Bedlam In Goliath will be out in Europe on January 29th. Intanto, la Alpha Pup Records ha annunciato che curerà la distribuzione, attraverso Itunes, del download digitale, a partire da dicembre, di The Apocalypse Inside Of An Orange, il disco dell'Omar Rodriguez-Quintet pubblicato lo scorso 20 novembre e reperibile,altrimenti, solo in formato doppio vinile (www.infrasonicsound.com). Il disco di Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, Calibration Is Pushing Lack And Key Too Far, invece, uscirà in Giappone il 15 dicembre e negli USA il 9 febbraio 2008. The Locust's van was broken into and robbed in St Louis over the weekend at a grocery store after the show. Many valuable items were stolen (COMPUTERS, IPODS, CASH, PASSPORTS, RENT MONEY, ETC) and the loss has been devastating to the band. Annunciati tre nuovi concerti della band a febbraio 2008, i primi in Europa continentale dal giugno 2005 (escludendo i tre in Gran Bretagna del dicembre dello stesso anno), finora solo Scandinavia con tre date in Norvegia, Svezia e Danimarca ma altre date dovrebbero essere confermate a breve tra cui una italiana a fine febbraio, incrociamo le dita. The Bedlam In Goliath

Rivelati ormai tutti i dettagli dell'album (anche se la copertina pubblicata nell'aggiornamento precedente non è stata confermata), in basso potete leggere la tracklist con il minutaggio. Pubblicate negli ultimi giorni un'intervista a Cedric su mtv.com e, sul sito ufficiale, una recensione di The Bedlam In Goliath...molto particolare ("The Mars Volta’s Descent Into Bedlam: A Rhapsody In Three Parts"), a cura dello scrittore Jeremy Robert Johnson con particolari riguardo al concept del disco. In entrambe, troverete notizie riguardo al nuovo album. Tra le cose più importanti: sembra che il singolo non sarà più Goliath ma Wax Simulacra. Al disco ha partecipato anche John Frusciante. Sul sito ufficiale, inoltre, è stato pubblicato il primo di quattro video promozionali. Immagine tratte dal tour australiane sono accompagnate dal brano Wax Simulacra (già noto come Idle Tooth). Il brano è stato rippato in formato audio, insieme ad altri due che compariranno su The Bedlam In Goliath, Aberinkula e Goliath (già Rapid Fire Toolbooth) sfruttando altri due video, poi rimossi, che, comunque, dovrebbero essere aggiunti insieme a quello già visibile. You will find news about the album on both those links. Remember that the single will be Wax Simulacra insted of Goliath and the album will feature once again John Frusciante. On the official site, you can see the first of four promotional videos ("webisodes") of the song Wax Simulacra: the video features extracts of last Australian tour footage. The Apocalypse Inside Of An Orange

In attesa del nuovo album della band, verranno pubblicati ben due nuovi dischi dell'Omar Rodriguez-Quintet: il primo, The Apocalypse Inside Of An Orange, arriverà il 20 novembre (qui la copertina, opera di Sonny Kay) e conterrà 8 brani per 60 minuti, tra cui una versione inedita di Jacob Van Lennekpade, brano già inserito nell'album Omar Rodriguez del 2005. E' disponibile per preordine (solo in versione doppio vinile, la versione cd non verrà distribuita prima del 2008) sul sito www.infrasonicsound.com. Inoltre, sarà disponibile anche per il download. Sul myspace della D.E.I.M.O.S. (al riguardo, leggerete una spiegazione più sotto), potete ascoltare due brani, Melting Chariots e Fuerza De Liberacion. Per questo disco, il quintetto è composto da Omar, Juan, Marcel, Adrian e Money Mark Ramos Nishita.

Calibration (Is Pushing Lack And Key Too Far)

Il secondo disco si chiamerà Calibration (Is Pushing Lack And Key Too Far) ed è il disco "elettronico" annunciato da Omar nella nostra intervista. Sarà pubblicato sul mercato giapponese il 15 dicembre dalla N2O Records e solo in seguito (presumibilmente nel 2008) in Europa e Stati Uniti in lp, cd e download digitale, previsto anche un singolo. Inoltre, in seguito, dovrebbe vedere la luce anche la versione remix del disco. Per questo album (qui la copertina opera dell'artista Grey, amico di lunga data di Omar), il Group è composto da Omar, Cedric, Juan, Thomas, Money Mark Ramos Nishita e John Frusciante (alla voce). Presto troverete brani dell'album alla pagina myspace ufficiale del disco.

The other upcoming album by Omar Rodriuguez is named Calibration (Is Pushing Lack And Key Too Far), this may be the "electronic" album which Omar announced on our interview. It will be released in Japan on December 15th by N2O Records on lp, cd and digital download. It should be released in Europe, UK and USA on early 2008. A remix version of this album should be released soon as well. This album (here you can see the cover by Grey, childhood friend of Omar) will feature Omar, Cedric, Juan, Thomas, Money Mark Ramos Nishita and John Frusciante (as vocals). Oggi festeggiamo tre anni di The Mars Volta Italia! E lo facciamo dandovi l'ennesima notizia (ancora una volta, grazie a Ellie!): la band sta pianificando il tour europeo per febbraio 2008! Il nuovo album, The Bedlam In Goliath, uscirà il 28 gennaio 2008 mentre dal prossimo 19 novembre il brano Goliath sarà disponibile per il download. La band ha annunciato un concerto per l'ultimo dell'anno a San Francisco (leggetene l'annuncio sul sito ufficiale, parte è scritto in italiano...un pò stentato) e, oltre al suddetto tour europeo, dovrebbe andare in tour in Giappone a maggio 2008.

Buon compleanno a noi e grazie per il vostro supporto in questi tre anni!

Today we celebrate three years of The Mars Volta Italia! And we give you another news as gift (once again thanks to our friend Ellie): the band is planning European tour in February 2008! New album, The Bedlam In Goliath, will be released on January 28th, 2008 while the single track Goliath will be available for download starting from November 19th. The band announced also a New Year's Eve gig in San Francisco (you can read the full announcement on the official site, a part of it's in Italian...a bit weird) and, aside Euro tour, is planning to tour Japan in May 2008.

Confermata la data di pubblicazione di The Bedlam In Goliath per il 28 gennaio 2008. Intanto, sembra che Omar stia girando un film a El Paso dal titolo The Sentimental Engine Slayer.

News da Universal Italia (grazie a Ellie!): la data di pubblicazione del quarto album dei The Mars Volta, The Bedlam In Goliath, è spostata al 28 gennaio 2008.

Il primo singolo estratto dall'album, Goliath, dovrebbe essere in radio a partire dal 19 novembre.

Di tanto in tanto, date un'occhiata a D.efine E.very I.nch The M.ile O.ne S.eeks...

Voci non confermate danno la band in tour in Sud America a inizio ottobre, potrebbe esserci anche un concerto a Los Angeles al Detour Festival.

Un breve riassunto riguardo a ciò che finora sappiamo su The Bedlam In Goliath, quarto album dei The Mars Volta: la data di pubblicazione è stata spostata al 30 ottobre (come riportato dal sito della Gold Standard Labs, www.goldstandardlabs.com ) ma per l'Universal Italia risulta ancora "TBD". Il disco dovrebbe contenere 12 brani, lunghi dai 2 ai 15 minuti. Tra questi anche Idle Tooth aka Wax Simulacra e Rapid Fire Toolboth (quest'ultimo, già pubblicato nel recente album solista di Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, Se Dice Bisonte, No Bufalo, dovrebbe apparire in una nuova versione, come Omar stesso dichiarò nella nostra intervista), brani già eseguiti dal vivo. Inoltre, sul sito della ASCAP (la Società Americana dei Compositori, Autori ed Editori, www.ascap.com ) compaiono nuovi 12 titoli a nome Cedric Bixler Zavala e Omar Rodriguez-Lopez e tra questi vi è Wax Simulacra. A brief summary about The Bedlam In Goliath, 4th album by The Mars Volta: release date has been delayed to October, 30th (as reported on Gold Standard Labs site, www.goldstandardlabs.com ) but, for Universal Italy, release date is still "TBD". This album should feature 12 tracks, with length from 2 to 15 minutes. Idle Tooth aka Wax Simulacra and Rapid Fire Toolboth (this one in a newest version different from the one contained on recent Omar's solo album, Se Dice Bisonte No Bufalo, as Omar said in our interview with him), should be also contained on this album, both have been already played live. On ASCAP (The American Sociey of Compositors, Authors and Publishers, www.ascap.com ) you can see 12 new titles of songs by Cedric Bixler Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez. Aspettando news riguardo a The Bedlam in Goliath, ieri l'Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Group si è esibito al Fuji Festival a Tokyo.  Show durato poco più di mezz'ora, questa la setlist:

La Tiriania de la Tradicion

Sul palco, in pratica, 6/8 dei Mars Volta: assenti Ikey e Pablo, sul palco c'erano tutti gli altri più Money Mark alle tastiere. Avevamo parlato di questo concerto con Omar nella nostra intervista con lui: Marcel ha affiancato Money Mark alle tastiere, come ci aveva detto, mentre il batterista è stato Thomas Pridgen e non Deantoni Parks. A quanto pare, però, ha raccolto il nostro suggerimento di portare in Giappone anche Cedric ... :)

Dopo questo concerto, sorta di "vacanza" per Omar e gli altri, si dovrebbe tornare a parlare di Mars Volta...

Nell'attesa, buttate un orecchio ad un nuovo progetto di Juan Alderete: Vato~Negro.

Waiting for some news about The Bedlam In Goliath, yesterday Omar Rodriguez Group played in Tokyo, at Fuji Festival. They played a bit more than half hour, this was the setlist:

On stage, there were 6 members on 8 from The Mars Volta: the entire band except Ikey and Pablo + Money Mark on keyboards. We spoke about this gig with Omar during our interview with him: Marcel played additional keyboards, as Omar said, but the drummer was Thomas Pridgen instead of Deantoni Parks. At least, Omar listened to us when we told him to keep Cedric with him in Japan... :)

After this gig, which was a sort of holiday for Omar and the others, we expect to hear soon about The Mars Volta.

In the meantime, check new Juan Alderete's project: Vato~Negro.

Verrà pubblicato in tarda estate un ep (in formato vinile e cd) dalla label olandese Willie Anderson Recordings ( che ha già pubblicato il secondo album solista di Omar, l'omonimo del 2005) contenente la collaborazione tra Omar Rodriguez-Lopez e Lydia Lunch. L'ep, intitolato semplicemente Omar Rodriguez-Lopez & Lydia Lunch, conterrà un unica traccia (come già l'ep di Omar con Damo Suzuki) caratterizzata dalla tagliente poesia "spoken word" della Lunch.

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez will be releasing a collaboration with the infamous Lydia Lunch later this summer on the Dutch label Willie Anderson Recordings (who released his self-titled "yellow" album in 2005). The ep, simply titled Omar Rodriguez Lopez & Lydia Lunch, is similar format-wise to Omar's collaboration with Damo Suzuki - a single, extended track punctuated by Lunch's sharp-tongued spoken word poetry. It will be available on vinyl and CD.
